Korea took bronze in the Azlan Shah Cup when they edged New Zealand 2-1 this evening.
It was a commendable performance from the Koreans who staved off a late fightback by the Black Sticks.
It was a rather dull affair as bot teams just stroked the ball around, both not showing any interest in the match.
Korea took the lead in the 33rd minute through a penalty corner converted by Hyun Hye Sung.
New Zealand got the equaliser in the 41st minute through Stephen Jenness but Korea disputed the goal and that led to a temporary suspension of play.
But common sense prevailed and the Koreans decided to play on.
Korea regained the lead in the 58th minute when Nam Hyun Woo converted a penalty corner.
And the Koreans survived two late penalty corners to take the bronze.
